The Radio Spectrum Policy Group (RSPG) is a high-level advisory group of government experts that assists the European Commission in the development of radio spectrum policy. The RSPG was chaired by Germany from 1 January 2020 to 31 December 2021.

The RSPG was established on the basis of European Commission Decision 2002/622/EC of 26 July 2002.

Germany is represented in this group by the Ministry and the Federal Network Agency for Electricity, Gas, Telecommunications, Post and Railway.

Objectives of the Group:

The Group assists and advises the European Commission on radio spectrum policy issues, in the coordination of policy approaches such as the development of multiannual radio spectrum policy programmes and, where appropriate, on harmonized conditions with regard to the availability and efficient use of radio spectrum, necessary for the establishment and functioning of the internal market. To this end, the Group prepares opinions, reports and position papers for the European Commission. The Group may also be consulted by the European Parliament and the Council of the European Union.

Within the scope of its advisory function for the European Commission, the Group consults extensively and pro-actively with economic operators, consumers and end-users on the use of radio spectrum.
