The number of road fatalities is at its lowest level in more than 60 years. According to the Federal Statistical Office, 2,719 people died in road accidents in Germany in 2020 - 10.7 percent or 327 people fewer than in the previous year.
But every road fatality is one too many. The Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure is pursuing the objective of the Vision Zero strategy: no more people being killed in road accidents.
