    Digital event (via Zoom)

Nowadays it is almost impossible to think of logistics without thinking of data. The use of data in the transport sector can be applied for many purposes. It can be used to monitor and improve status of delivery and enable a more transparent system for users. Data can also be used for demand prediction, optimisation of routes, improving efficiency of the delivery process and reducing emissions, resulting in a faster, cleaner and resilient logistics sector. All transport modes can greatly profit from the use of data in logistics, as improvements in the chain lead to improvement in the whole transport sector.

The aim of the mFUND seminar is to enable networking between research and innovation projects with a similar thematic focus. In addition, the event intends to inform policymakers and practitioners about new developments, opportunities and innovations in the field of digitalisation and data applications. Through contacts with partners from public entities or the business community, innovators can receive important guidance for the implementation of their projects and for exploring potential business opportunities.

The workshop will start with a key note about the impacts of data on the logistics sector in Europe, followed by inspiring inputs from experts in the field and closing with a discussion session with participants.

Bring your knowledge and ideas to the seminar.

We look forward to your participation!

To register, please send an email with the subject "EU Knowledge Exchange – workshop 4" to mFUND@bmvi.bund.de.

You will receive a link to a virtual meeting room shortly before the event.

About the online mFUND-Workshop series “Data Innovations for Smart Mobility in Europe”

Data has become an important driver in all areas of our modern society and its importance is increasing every day. Data is the basis for most digital innovations. It offers enormous potential for new business models and products.

In the transport sector, digital technologies and data are used on a large scale to increase efficiency, reliability and safety of services and infrastructure and economy. At the same time, data based solutions contribute to reducing the use of resources and tackle climate change. Citizens can greatly benefit from data-based solutions, which can enable seamless multimodal traffic, increase safety and improve the mobility experience in all types of environments.

With the virtual conference “Open Data for Smart Mobility in Europe”, held under the auspices of the German EU Council Presidency on 17 November 2020, the Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure has initiated a European dialogue on examples for data innovations in the mobility field across Europe.

To continue this knowledge exchange and to facilitate new partnerships between European projects and actors, the BMVI mFUND programme has established a new online workshops series on Data Innovations for Smart Mobility. Until the end of 2021, six events on different transportation topics will be implemented.
