Andreas Scheuer (Christian Social Union) assumed office earlier today.
Andreas Scheuer, Federal Minister of Transport and Digital Infrastructure:
I am really excited to be starting work in my new job. And it is with great respect that I stand before the challenges that lie ahead of me. The Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure is instrumental in shaping the future. At the same time, we are always aware of people's needs in local communities. We pave the way for mobility, economic growth and jobs. We ensure that investment is made and innovations launched. Everything that will generate new momentum for Germany will be given top priority. My objective is to further improve the fabric of life and ensure a convergence of living standards throughout the country. This means modern, clean, accessible and affordable mobility and world-class digital infrastructure providing universal coverage.
In addition, Federal Minister Scheuer today appointed his Parliamentary State Secretaries: Parliamentary State Secretary Enak Ferlemann (Christian Democratic Union) has held this office since 2009. Steffen Bilger (CDU) joins the Ministry as a new Parliamentary State Secretary.
