Today, Andreas Scheuer, Federal Minister of Transport and Digital Infrastructure, opened the section of the A 3 between Rohrbrunn and Marktheidenfeld to traffic after its widening to six lanes.
Today, we have completed the upgrading of the last non-widened section of the A 3 federal motorway between Aschaffenburg and Würzburg. By widening this section to six lanes, we are strengthening one of the most significant transport arteries in the Southwest of Germany. The most important thing, however, is that, with this measure, we are improving the flow of traffic and making the road safer for all users. This will also help to reduce journey times between the Netherlands and Austria and, at the same time, increase the efficiency of the entire federal trunk road network.
In total, the Federal Government is investing more than 175 million euros in the two upgrading measures covering sections of 5.4 and 7.8 kilometres. With the opening to traffic of this section, the A 3 federal motorway is now a six-lane motorway between the Hesse state border and the City of Würzburg.
