The Supervisory Board of the National Organization for Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Technology/NOW GmbH has appointed Kurt-Christoph von Knobelsdorff as Managing Director and Managing Director (Chair). He will succeed Dr Klaus Bonhoff who has transferred to the Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure (BMVI) as Director-General for Policy Issues. Mr von Knobelsdorff, 52, studied economics and held, among others, positions at the Association of German Chambers of Industry and Commerce (DIHK) and the German Association of family-run businesses. Thereafter, he worked in senior positions at the Berlin Senate and the Schleswig-Holstein federal state Ministry of Economic Affairs. Most recently, he held the position of Director-General at the Brandenburg federal state Ministry for Economic Affairs, Labour and Energy.
Since 2008, NOW GmbH – as an agency of the Federal Republic of Germany – has been promoting the development of hydrogen and fuel cell technology and coordinating funding programmes of the Federal Ministry of Transport. These include the National Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Technology Innovation Programme as well as the Electric Mobility and Charging Infrastructure Funding Guidelines. In addition to this, NOW GmbH is supporting the Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure in further fleshing out the Mobility and Fuel Strategy.
The National Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Technology Innovation Programme and the projects funded with it are a crucial basis for the National Hydrogen Strategy, in whose implementation NOW GmbH will play an important role by contributing to its expertise.
