It is time for the German Mobility Award again. Under the motto “Smart travel: together – interconnected – mobile.” the “Germany – Land of Ideas” initiative and the Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure are now looking for innovative flagship projects and creative ideas that use the potential of digital connectivity for the mobility of the future, also, and in particular, in a changed environment such as the current corona pandemic.
Be it artificial intelligence for optimising logistics chains, algorithms for adapting public transport to new distancing rules or interconnected platforms for intermodal mobility services. Applications can be submitted until 7 July 2020 at www.deutscher-mobilitaetspreis.de (in German).
Andreas Scheuer, Federal Minister of Transport and Digital Infrastructure, said:
The corona crisis is also an opportunity. We are observing different consumer behaviour, an enormous drive of the digital revolution. Business trips will become less frequent. Other, digital business models will establish themselves faster. It is exactly these projects that we would like to honour with the German Mobility Award. Ideas that further accelerate digital connectivity and make real innovation possible.
Dieter Kempf, President of the Federation of German Industry (BDI) and President of “Germany – Land of Ideas”, said:
The experience of recent months has led to major challenges for us and caused insecurities for many. Therefore, I appreciate it all the more that the German Mobility Award intends to honour the flagships of mobility this year again. Their commitment and innovative spirit are spreading optimism and hope for the future – which is exactly what we need.
For the first time, the competition has two target groups. The best practice competition targets companies, start-ups, cities and municipalities, universities and research institutions located in Germany that have already successfully implemented their flagship projects. At the same time, every citizen has the chance to be honoured: the ideas competition of the German Mobility Award is open to everybody. This competition focuses on the “Crisis as an opportunity” and intends to honour creative conceptual drafts and innovative impetus that were created during the crisis and show how connectivity can help to shape mobility in the future in an even better way.
A jury of experts will select the ten most innovative best practice flagship projects as well as the three most creative ideas from the public.
Additional material can be found online at deutscher-mobilitaetspreis/presse (German only).
